When should I start feeding layer pellets to my chickens?

Most hens should start using layer pellets at around 16 weeks of age or when they are close to beginning egg production. Starting too early can overload young birds with calcium, so best to switch when near point of lay.

How much feed should my hens eat per day?

A typical laying hen eats 100-120 grams of layer pellets per day. Free-range hens may adjust their intake based on how much they forage.

What makes layer pellets different from growers or starter feed?

Layer pellets contain higher calcium for for egg-shall formation and a nutrient balance designed specifically for laying hens. Starter and grower feeds have lower calcium and higher protein, suitable for developing birds rather than layers.

To be stored in a cool dry place away from the risk of vermin.
