How is layer meal different to layer pellets?
Layer meal has a crumbly, fine texture rather than pellet form. Some hens prefer meal because it is easier to eat and mix with other feed components. It also encourages more natural pecking behaviour. Pellets on the other hand reduce selective feeding.
Can i mix layer meal with kitchen scraps or scratch grain?
Yes, in moderation. Treats and grains should not make up more than 10% of your hens daily intake. Too many extras dilutes the balanced nutrition in the layers meal.
